Jennifer Price's powerful complex and intriguing painting of her own spell casting ritual, is an image rich with esoteric symbols half-hidden magical creatures, precious stones and other phenomena of the material and spiritual world all woven together into a tapestry of 5 elements; Earth, Air, Fire, Water and Spirit.She uses acrylic to 'sculpt' objects on to the canvas,give the surface relief, and create a sense of texture and reflectivity that make many of the objects represented in paint seem as if they are made of the real material itself. It is an artistic Tour de force.

Below is the artist's interpretation in her own words:

"Creation.

Calling from the greatness and goodness of Mother Earth. Calling from the well wishes bestowed to those who look to harmonise with mother Earth / Nature. Those that deeply see and feel the surrounding cocooning energies that flow throughout the earth, the skies, the seas, through air and fire, through spirit and beings. Natural energies of the world- flowing into our own senses.

Mother Earth. The overseer to my incantation / my prayer/ my need / my plea / my calling up strength.

Spell casting. Within the five elements a five star pentagram encircled by salt protection repelling any negative energies. Only allowing and inviting the presence of the good life elemental powers- from their source. The five elements of Earth. Air. Fire. Water. Spirit.

Mother Earth oversees ALL presence in the whole incantation art piece.

First - to Earth - the calling up Earth energies - summoning to my incantation. So I may look to my present time. To the beauty of now! Behold what we have! Not to what's gone. Not looking back. To the now! See the wonders. Feel the grounding. The solid. The positive grounding and breath with it- with this breath comes a peaceful mind. A peaceful mind holds strength.

Earth my strength giver - now has presence within me/ within my spell.

Second - to Air- I call up air energies to enter my ritual. Wondrous air! Dream filling air! Lifting and creating air energies. To bring joy with the fall away of time pressures with the long - slow - deep filling of mind creations. Again breathe with imagination make anything possible. air my joy bringing and with joy comes peace, strength. Air my strength giver. Now has presence within me and within my spell.

Third to fire- the calling up of fire energies. Summoning to my incantation. Fire is strength itself. Bold. Brilliance. Displaying. Free moving. Fearless fierce energy. Beautiful active energy. Powerfully, charging, striking energy. Flaring and diminishing glowing and flickering. Fire in its dance. Energy is gifted the strength to stand tall! To stand head raised high! To make oneself and be oneself and become what you may?

Intoxicating fire dance in its array of Razzle Dazzle. In its free flow and growing. Brings bold wild strength.

Fire. My strength giver. Now its presence is within me and within my spell.

Fourth- to water - the calling up of water energies. Summoning to my ritual.

The flowing winding paths taken / will take / will travel and make. The joining and breaking apart/ branching out as a tree roots travel and branches and makes paths anew. Cascading waters. Vast. Magical in visions and sound. Wondrous in the ebb and flow and Tide. Paths change. Paths merge. Paths to make. Our own paths to make. To knowledge learnt- to further knowledge. To learn roots and for the unknown/ choices to be made clear. With clear adventurous steps come excitement; with excitement and enthusiasm comes joy. With joy comes peace. With peace comes strength. Water my strength giver. Now its presence is within me and within my spell.

Fifth- to Spirit - the calling up of spirit energies. Summoning to my incantation.

Spirit (in whatever form individually our own religion names them/the one/the many) Spirit(s) Protectors of nature! Protectors of land and beings! Protecting by guidance!

Spirit(s) Guide our deeds, shape our actions, prick our conscience Spirit(s) To guide us away from the lesser paths to the greater paths. Spirit(s) sort after in times of need but often forgotten. Timeless / ageless entity (entities) That we turn to in prayer / ritual / spell / honour / tradition/ call upon. Whatever form of worship - voice/action/ thoughts- whatever form our prayers take- Spirit(s) is there (are there) We know spirits surrounding presence.

The knowing entity(entities) That see truth. Soul deep truth in all are individual selves. Spirit guides. Spreading harmony and peace to lighten our hearts to help us create our own light. Lights that we can spread bringing joy and happiness, the balm! the healing! to life.

The Spirit(s) Direct us to seek our own inner purpose. Our own well being. Our own reason and purpose- therefore our own power and strength.

Spirit- my strength giver. Now has presence within me and within my spell.

I do not include the names I personally believe to be the Earth, Sky, Water, Sun, Moon, nature the world to me. Personal to my belief - present in my art creation. Unnaming for unpreaching. My painting is not to preach. My painting includes many forms and beliefs and names given. Religious icons, charms, symbols, talisman's, lockbringers, personal artefacts of strength.

My art piece is a variety of worldwide symbols. One prominent object is personal to myself therefore hard to puzzle out. My Hematite point. My rock of strength. This gem chose me when strength was looked for.

Every inclusion and detail that I've positioned, placed, angled, carried with movement, With flow or currents or set in sequence. All have their reason and purpose to be there.

The final reading to end my painting story..... I could tell the entire story but I won't. Self interpretation with a slow paced, ease of mind. Viewing even scrutinising further depth to viewing! Will take one's mind to intrigue. Involved in unfolding its mysteries. One's own imagination and creativity let loose to explore. ALL a balm for the mind.
